In Malawi, members of the LGBTQ+ community often face stigma and discrimination that can limit access to essential healthcare services.
In this episode of Re:solve Talks, host Hetal Baman speaks to Rodger Phiri, executive director at Art & Global Health Center (ArtGlo) Africa, about how an African philosophy called umunthu is being used to challenge these barriers and create more inclusive healthcare.
Building on our recent article, Rodger shares his journey leading the Umunthu Healthcare Workers programme, which engages healthcare providers, medical students, and community leaders to improve access to care for marginalised individuals, especially within the LGBTQ+ community.
This episode is a special collaboration with the Global Health Pursuit podcast, where we combine our efforts to broaden the conversation on global health issues, with a special focus on communities often affected by stigma.Â
